The SMT Classics (audio only)

Welcome to the SMT classics - episodes where I dip my hands into the archives of the British Asian Podcast which was created in 2015 !
Todays episode was originally recorded and released in 2015 and featured the fantastic media personality Anila Dhami.

Anila at the time was working at Zee TV and the podcast was actually recorded in the TV studios in London in the days when I could actually physically meet people. And what I quite clearly remember was thinking that Anila was a super smart, ambitious women who was going to go on and do some amazing things.

Since then she has become an Award-winning Presenter & Producer and has worked for the BBC, ITV News, The Telegraph, ITN 5News Presenter and also currently has a radio show called #AnilaDhamiOnSunday a current affairs call-in show 10am-12pm on Sunrise Radio.
Go check out AnilaDhami.com or follow her on social media @AnilaDhami

This week on the show I speak to Blitzkrieg.
Blitz (Blitzkrieg), a name that needs no introduction in the urban Desi music industry is back with a new single and a collection of goodies on his 'album'.

Originally discovered by Punjabi MC and signed by Tigerstyle, Blitzkrieg released his debut album “The Rhyme Book” with VIP Records in 2007.

Blitz comes with a wealth of experience and some amazing past success stories. His music has been licensed across the globe for various projects and to music labels including Universal Music UK, Universal Music India, Sony Music India, Times Music India and most recently, Blitz was the only North American male MC featured on the smash hit song 'Goriye' from the award-winning Bollywood movie 'Gully Boy'.

As well as having a stack of solo hits, the singer/songwriter's collaborations include Deep Jandu, RDB, Juggy D, Tigerstyle, Roach Killa, Bikram Singh, Panjabi Hit Squad, Aman Hayer, Apache Indian, Sikander Khalon, Parichay, Partners in Rhyme, Arjun and many more!

Before the advent of social media and long with his long time collaborator Roach Killa, Blitz pioneered the sound of Toronto's urban Desi music scene and helped it gain worldwide recognition through constant international touring and radio/video play.

The SMT classic conversations (audio only)

Welcome to a slightly different podcast today.

So since the launch of the SMT podcast last year I’ve gained many new listeners and specifically a large amount from India and other countries.
With that in mind I knew I had some great conversations from a previous podcast I used to have called, The British Asian Podcast.
So, I thought it would be nice to share these again from time to time labelled as the SMT CLASSICS.

The first of these is a podcast I recorded in 2016
with the legendary U.K. bhangra band, Achanak who at the time were about to release their first album in very long time called Game, Set and Nach.

Although we spoke about the album it was also a great conversion about the genesis of one of the greatest bhangra bands ever to hit scene.

Joining me on the podcast was Ninder Johal, Vijay Achanak and Ammo Johal.

I hope you enjoy.

This week on the show is Don D Marley. Known for his reggae vibes on Asian Pop Classic ‘Nahin Jeena’ and his combination of roots music and Bollywood in the 2Kool album with Rishi Rich.
Don D grew up in North West London and was always influenced by the multicultural backgrounds around him. He spent most of his childhood listening to old school reggae classics such as Capelton, Sizzla, Buju Banton and Yellow Man.
Don D has featured on many songs throughout his 20-year career from Bollywood to Bhangra.
